CAA orders transfer of activities from BBIAP to new airport

Islamabad: To assist flight operations from Islamabad International Airport from April 20 onwards, the Civil Aviation Authority has instructed the stakeholders to ensure transfer of all activities from Benazir Bhutto International Airport to the new airport, reported a news source. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbassi will inaugurate the transit facility on April 20.
The facility had initially been marked for an inauguration on August 14, 2017, but due to certain irregularities and consequent delays in construction, the opening was delayed. According to sources, the Auditor General has smoothed out all irregularities involving the initial award for the project and the guidelines by the Planning Commission, making the airport ready for operations from April 20 onwards.
