Anti-encroachment drive in Empress Market completed

Karachi: An anti-encroachment drive in Karachi’s famous Empress Market has been completed, according to a news report. The drive began on 20th May 2018 when teams from Anti-Encroachment Cell (AEC) and municipal staffers removed various encroachers from the road. Many people on the second day had brought back their carts and the staffers dealt with them accordingly.
On the second day, various police officers, along with staffers of the District South deputy commissioner’s office and the AEC stayed around the market throughout the day to remove pushcarts and roadside stalls.

Superintendent of Police Saddar Division Tauqeer Muhammad Naeem said that the AEC teams reached the market on Sunday night and cleared the roads with help from staffers of police and the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation. After the successful completion of this drive, the teams of the KMC and District South office set up camps in the market to ensure these pushcarts and stalls aren’t established again.
