Peshawar: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has directed the government to start construction of a new monument for commemorating the APS Peshawar martyrs, according to a news report. A two-bench committee, comprising of Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan and Justice Muhammad Nasir Mehfooz passed the order as a case had been filed, labelling the structure as unsuitable for representing the lives of children.
The monument is to be placed in front of the Archives Library, which has been renamed after the APS martyrs. Out of the initial grant of PKR 15 million for the monument, only PKR 6.6 million went for the construction of the monument. Justice Qaiser has remarked that the existing monument needs to be replaced with something more sentimental and representative of the martyrs.
