ECP requested to revisit ban on uplift projects

Islamabad: On Thursday, a panel of the National Assembly (NA) asked the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to allow the redirection of funds from slow-paced projects to fast-paced ones, according to a news report. They also requested the relaxation of a ban on recruitment in government departments.
These concerns were raised by the National Assembly standing committee on parliamentary affairs, at a meeting presided over by chairperson Dr Shezra Mansab Ali Khan Kharal. The committee stated that development should be allowed to continue on ongoing projects for the public interest. Representatives from Khyber Pakhtunwa, Punjab, and Sindh said that notifications regarding this ban should be issued in coordination with the federal and provincial governments.
