Matiara-Lahore transmission line faces three-year delay

Islamabad: The Matiari-Lahore transmission line under CPEC is facing a three-year delay, according to a news report. This delay occurred as the government gave a seven-month extension to a development company for the start of construction on the USD 1.7 billion scheme.
This decision was taken by Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet, which was chaired by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbassi. The ECC approved the deadline extension of this 660-kv high-voltage direct-current project by seven months to December 1, 2018. This was revealed in a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office. This decision was taken to make the project align with the upcoming coal-powered project in Thar and near Karachi, as well as the K-2 1,100 MW project in Karachi.
