Cabinet meeting approves FATA-KP merger

Islamabad: A meeting of the Federal Cabinet headed by the Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has given approval for the merger of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), according to a news report. The 27-point amendment agenda of economic and security importance was presented in this meeting.
According to details, the cabinet approved a number of measures which included the approval to present a bill on FATA reforms in the National Assembly. Other approvals included changes in policy of import of ammunitions, agreement for payment of dues to former Soviet Union between Pakistan and Russia, the establishment of medical city in Islamabad, amendment in master plan of sub-Zone C of Zone IV, among others. The date on which University of Baltistan Order is to come into force was also decided in the meeting.
The meeting was also attended by Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal who was congratulated by the meeting on his full recovery.
