NA, Senate passes FATA-KP merger bill

Islamabad: The National Assembly and later the Senate with a significant majority, have passed the bill for merger of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) with Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, according to a news report.
Now that it has been approved by both houses of the parliament, now the bill will be tabled before KP assembly for approval.
After getting approval from both houses of the Parliament, the bill will now be presented before the KP assembly. The bill was approved by the National Assembly on Thursday with 229 parliamentarians voting in favour while only one opposed it. While in Senate, 71 members voted in its favour, where 69 was needed for approval.

The bills aims to speed up the mainstreaming of the tribal areas, and aims to fulfil the KP-FATA merger within two years.
