Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has decided to impose a ban on new water connections and to curb the illegal sale of tanker water, according to a news source. RCB also plans to take action against those indulging in wasting water, and stated that anyone using excessive amounts of water will have their connections cut.
Previously, RCB has warned residents against wasting water and advised them to use it wisely to avoid shortages in the coming days. RCB is receiving 4 million gallons of water a day form Khanpur Dam, due to water levels of the dam dropping drastically. RCB spokesman Qaiser Mahmoos announced that all possible measure would be taken to meet the water requirements of the residents of the Cantonment areas. Action is to be taken against anyone who uses water excessively for activities like washing vehicles, gardening, and other chores. Sever repercussions would also be faced by those having illegal water connections.
