Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board has lifted ban on issuance of new water connections, reported a news source. The ban was placed due to shortage of water in the district as water supply from Khanpur Dam and the tube wells had dropped by 50%.
The ban has been lifted on concerns raised by the RCB’s elected members. While the board has lifted the ban on new water connections for commercial and residential units, it also clarified to the new connection seekers that water supply is not guaranteed.
At the moment, the city receives 4 Million Gallon per Day (MGD) against the previous 9 MGD. You can read more about the measure the board is taking to curb wastage of water in the cantonment area from our previous report on RCB banning new water connections.
