Five-year tax break approved for tribal areas

Islamabad: On Thursday, the federal government announced a tax holiday for the now defunct federal and provincial tribal areas that were recently merged with Khyber Pakhtunwa (KPK), according to a news report. This was a major concern of the people of these areas and has been addressed.
This approval was given by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC), with the meeting headed by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbassi. These taxes include sales tax, withholding tax, and many other taxes. This tax break will be reviewed after the five years have passed. Comprehensive tax exemptions and other incentives were announced for the people of the tribal areas in this meeting, along with the elimination of the Neelum-Jhelum surcharge.
