Trial run of Neelum-Jhelum’s 2nd unit starts, power generation expected in 30 days

Mirpur: The second unit of the Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project has started operating, reported a news source. This project will generate 242.25 MW of electricity. According to the contractual requirements, this unit will initially be run on a 3-day trial period, followed by a 30-day reliability period, only after which will it continuously generate power.
The project’s Unit no. 4 started operating during April this year and has since then injected more than 242.25 MW of electricity to the national grid. After the contractual obligations are completed, the contribution of Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower to the national grid from these units will be doubled from 242.25 MW to 484.5 MW.
When operating at full capacity, the project will have a power generation capacity of 969 MW, with each unit producing 242.25 MW of electricity.
