Faisalabad: The Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) President Shabbir Hussain Chawla stated that Pakistan’s water storage capacity has been falling continuously over the years, according to a news report. He also added that floods cost the country PKR 334 billion every year.
He stated that this would affect both Rabi and Kharif crops and would cause extensive damage to the country’s economy, 60% of which relies on agriculture. He emphasised on the need for focussing on the efficiency of water management and consumption, along with capacity-building measures.
