Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been asked to monitor the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project to check for pollution along the route, according to a news report. The EPA has been directed by Peshawar High Court (PHC) to carry out this activity to ensure that the particulate level in the air is at its lowest.
The PHC has also asked the Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) to sprinkle water along the route of the BRT to bring down dust pollution. The PDA director general pointed out that work on the project was almost complete, and all measures necessary were being taken to account for its environmental aspect. He also submitted a report, which highlights that the second monitoring done during the second week of March found the construction site is well within the National Environment Quality Standard.
