Permits of buildings without utility connections cancelled: SBCA

Karachi: The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has cancelled the approvals of the buildings which don’t have NOCs from utility providers, according to a news report. This details that if the developers or builders responsible for the construction of these buildings don’t submit applications to receive NOCs from utility providers such as Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB), K-Electric, and Sui Southern Gas Company, then their building plans will be subsequently cancelled.
To inform all builders and developers, advertisements and notices have been published in various newspapers. This is in addition to the extra measures already being taken. If an application for NOC isn’t submitted, maps of all such buildings are also to be considered cancelled. The Judicial Commission has ordered all concerned authorities and civic agencies to thoroughly vet the housing schemes and buildings prior to issuing NOCs.

The Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (ABAD) Chairperson Arif Yousuf Jeewa has expressed his confusion over the situation, saying that the water commission has already barred the KWSB from issuing NOCs for buildings exceeding ground plus one. The association indicated that it will approach the water commission over this conflict.
