Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has asked the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to prepare a comprehensive plan for removing encroachments from the federal capital, according to a news source. The plan is also to include a comprehensive strategy for ensuring that this illegal practice doesn’t occur in the future either.
The IHC Justice Shaukat Aziz has said that any government officer found hampering the campaign against encroachment will be sent to jail. During the legal proceeding, Islamabad Mayor Sheikh Anser Aziz and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Aftab Akbar Durrani also appeared before the court.
The CDA officials submitted a detailed report against their plan of action for the encroachments before the court. The report detailed on the CDA’s plans to initiate the anti-encroachment operation from sector F-6 Islamabad, and pointed out that the CDA had allowed to set up only two bus terminals in Faizabad area.
According to the Justice Aziz, various elements are creating hurdles for the smooth implementation of court orders to free property worth billions of rupees that has been illegally occupied. The bench adjourned the hearing till 10th May, asking the CDA is required to present a more comprehensive plan in the next hearing.
