Kalabagh Dam needed for sustainable national development

Dams and a medical college to be built
Rawalpindi: The Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) Managing Director Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor has labelled the construction of Kalabagh Dam as imperative for sustainable national development, according to a news report. He also highlighted the importance of building newer mega water reservoirs integral for dealing with water-related problems in future.
Ghafoor called for creating consensus for the construction of the dam as a way towards resolving the country’s water crisis and bringing prosperity to the country. He accused those opposing the dam as being against Pakistan and its economic development. Ghafoor added that since agriculture is the backbone of the national economy, water supply has to be met in order to facilitate it. He added that in addition to providing water, the dam will also generate 36,000 megawatts of electricity.
